Basement and bathroom

Pretty much done

The house is pretty much done outside and inside. Just some minor stuff to be fixed here and there. On Tuesday we will go over a checklist with the builder. Here are a few photos.

Kitchen kabinets in

Ok, here are the updates since last time. Smoke detectors, ceiling fans, thermostat and airconditioning has been installed, walls painted, baseboards, kitchen cabinets, counters, kitchen tiling, bathroom floors, vanities, light fixtures and the steps to the back lawn. + some other stuff. The carpeting will be installed very soon as well.

Drywall and insulation

Last week before we left to go to the farm, the builder had put up the gutters. They are barely noticeable. When we came back on Sunday the insulation was in the wall and today almost the entire house has drywall. Only some parts of the garage still has drywall in it.
Here are some photos of the walls in the kitchen and the entrance area as well as the outside where you can see tthe gutters.

All siding up and door locked

Siding is now on all sides, plumbing has been installed along with air vents etc.
The gutters will probably be attached in a week or so. No idea when the screendoor and railing will be installed. As of current we have been informed that the electric wiring is being installed so we will come back and check later this week. Here are some new photos.

Shingles and siding

We have been gone for the week-end and haven't checked the house since Thursday. The roof now has shingles (which is comforting considering the changing weather conditions recently) and the siding was still being put up as we visited today. We expect to go back again in a day or two, but don't expect too big outside cosmetic changes now that the siding is up. The plumbing is also being installed as we speak.

Windows are in, roof tiles next

The house now has all the windows installed and the main door. The screendoor is not there yet, though. The garage door has also been installed and brick around it.No time to write more so here are the photos from today.

Roof

Our house now almost has a roof and the front is also taking shape. The workers were working when we took these photos around noon today.

Framework going up!

Finally! After work today we drove out to the building site. We were getting a little worried about whether we would be able to take any photos since the sun was setting. On Monday it was raining/snowing and slushy outside so we were not sure as to how far they had gotten since Sunday, but we were in for a surprise! The first picture shows the house from a distance (all that landscape will in the next few months be dotted with houses). It was pretty muddy today. The road is paved but it looks like a trail of mud today. So, after lots of waiting, the house is being built. In just 3 days the entire framework is done - we were not expecting that! We plan on driving out to the building site again on Friday to take more progress pictures, so stay tuned.

This week...

So, the house next to us is now in the process of being built. There is lumber on our lot now and judging by the speed of which the other houses are going up, we're expecting that at least the framework will be done on our house this week. Check back later in the week. We'll update the blog more frequently from now on.

Our row now has houses popping up

The street where our house is going to be built now has several houses ready. Our "lumber drop" is scheduled for Feb 22, and soon thereafter they will finally start building it!




 

No updates for awhile

We found out from Hearthstone that the "lumber drop" won't happen until Feb 20, 2008. Since the house won't change much from now until then, there won't be any updates to this blog until the end of February.
